1 Palacio Belmonte, Lisbon

You could say the wonderful Palacio Belmonte is 'charm personified'.

This hotel exudes personality and character; from the friendly welcome, to the absolute splendour of this unconventional hotel, the ambience is warm and relaxing and the experience is one to behold.

Steeped in history and rich in culture, this 5* hotel is unique. Located in one of the oldest districts of Lisbon, it is built high on a hill on the surrounding walls of the castle of Sao Jorge. The views over the city and beyond the Tagus river are spectacular!

The hotel has seen several restorations over the centuries. More recently, it has been lovingly and sympathetically restored by its present day owners who have seamlessly merged the past with the present, re-using and recycling whatever they could. The public rooms and some of the suites are adorned with antiques as well as modern art and on the interior walls throughout the building, a stunning collection of blue, hand-painted Portuguese tiles dating from as far back as 1720 are there to be seen and admired.

The Palacio Belmonte is an environmentally - friendly hotel. The food served is fresh, local and most of it sourced from the hotels' carefully redesigned garden where organic produce is grown. The hotel has plenty of natural light and ventilation, reducing its energy consumption.

Located in Ramsen, the Eco-friendly Seehaus Forelle Restaurant Hotel is unassumingly set in peaceful, natural surroundings.

With trout breeding ponds within the grounds, beautiful greenery, a tranquil lake and the sweet sounds of nature, this is a perfect place to unwind and re-energise. The hotel incorporates two houses which have been restored and renovated in keeping with the history of the buildings, making it sustainable in terms of longevity.

The 'Forsthaus' which was once a foresters lodge, is the latest addition to the hotel and the 'Haeckenhaus' has been seemlessly extended and together they have won Architectural Awards.

The hotel interior has timeless appeal and a modern, simplistic design. Guest rooms differ in size and give different aspects; some rooms have views across the lake, some have roof terraces with views overlooking the lake and some even have a dock from which to moor your own boat after a trip around the lake.

All rooms are comfortable, relaxing and bright with vibrantly coloured curtains and accessories which give prominence and create a warm ambience.

The restaurant uses locally sourced produce from eco-friendly producers and fresh trout from their own resource.

The inviting menu offers a delicious choice of seasonal and organic dishes and the chef will try to cater for most requests. The staff throughout the hotel are welcoming and friendly and the service they provide is exceptional.

The Boutique hotel is in a busy area with a bustling atmosphere and ideally located close to the very grand 'Milano Centrale' (Milan's central rail station). The Echo hotel has been sustainably converted and refurbished from a former 4* hotel. Its relative newness is evident on entering the lobby which is a large bright shiny space, with smart seating areas and lots of natural light pouring through the windows.

The hotel has 143 comfortable rooms of a modern contemporary design, with warm lighting, a soothing blend of earthy tones, dressed in Eco-friendly fabrics and finished to a high standard. Subtle luxury! Some of the bigger rooms have a balcony or terrace. The hotel restaurant 'Orto' has floor to ceiling murals of lush green foliage which make a lovely scenic backdrop, its like dining in a huge, colourful organic garden. The seasonal menu is fresh and mostly traditional Italian and organic with Vegetarian options available.
Staff at the restaurant and throughout the hotel are polite, friendly and charmingly hospitable.
